Established in 1970, its main function was the preparation of the agenda for the Academic Council and it also carried out tasks assigned to it by the Council. It reported to the Council in the first instance.

Established c1981 and dissolved c1985, it was set up to allow Dr Simmons et al to carry out work on human lung material. Meetings were ad-hoc.

Purpose: to initate and propound ideas and proposals in the interests of the PCL as a whole; to determine opportunities for longer term development initially within the concepts of the Contained Growth Strategy; to propose the longer term use of physical resources including accommodation; to present cases to Court for the acquisition of appropriate properties for accommodation purposes as well as other aspects of resourcing.

Established in 1970. Formed to give non-student members of the Polytechnic adequate representation. Reports to the Court of Governors. 3 meetings a year.

Student Affairs Committee (fl.1970-1998)

It reports to the Academic Council and has a formal link with the Academic Affairs Committee. Between 1985-1990/1991 it was responsible for the Hardships Committee. After 1991 when the Hardships Committee reported to the Resources Committee, the Student Affairs Committee retained a monitoring function. The Student Stafff Consultative Committee reported annually. In 1997 it was disbanded and in 1998 the Student Affairs Forum was set up to carry out similar duties.
